Bolivia is a country rich in natural and cultural resources. Sprawling lowland rainforests give way to misty cloud forests, the vast Altiplano and the Andes mountains. Each region of the country has distinct cultural characteristics, indigenous language groups and biologically rich ecosystems. Economically, Bolivia is also the poorest country in South America, with one in three people living below the poverty line. While the threats to biodiversity conservation here are not unique, the economic realities of deep proverty have dire consequences for imperiled habitats.
Nature and Culture International is, with your support, helping indigenous communities gain important protection for their vast ancestral lands and working to save the countless species in Boliva’s exceptional, yet endangered, ecosystems.
